help us curate the Summer 2018 perks
After attending our first underground documentary film festival, Emily and I saw an opportunity to connect people like us; Calgarians looking for new experiences in their city, to local businesses and organizations looking to draw in a larger crowd.
We have set out to create something that we believed is missing in the space of tourism for the city of Calgary. While there are many sources of a complete list of things to do in Calgary, these lists and blogs all shared the need for you to choose from a huge directory of experiences and restaurants. That choice can be overwhelming, even for local Calgarians. We set out to curate a smaller, more niche list of Calgary experiences and things to try, for locals by locals, and to make it easy to take the leap and try that new thing.
As we gear up for the launch of our pilot YYC Adventure Card, a perks card designed with Calgarians and Calgary businesses at heart, we have been energized by the amazing stories of the business owners we have chatted with. We believe that sharing these stories and giving you the opportunity to support these businesses and support your neighbours who are building these amazing businesses, brings us all closer as a community and as a city.
You could spend hours perusing blogs and discount finders looking for something to do, just to get lost in the black hole of the internet. We want to make the choosing part easy. Choose to hit up local restaurants, explore a local film festival, and drink a cappuccino from a locally coffee roaster, all while saving money! Think of the YYC Adventure Card as a travel guide for your Calgary adventure.
So why should you get the YYC Adventure Card?
Each season of the YYC Adventure Card (valid for four months) will feature 10 - 14 different businesses and organizations in order to give you a fresh set of new things to try.
Every one of our partner businesses are locally owned and operated and will be located all over the city. Visit Calgary’s hottest spots: 17th Ave, Stephen Avenue, Marda Loop, Fort Calgary, Heritage Park, Kensington, Inglewood and more. (We are always looking for new partners so if your neighbourhood has an epic local businesses, send us a note and we can work to get them on the card!)
Getting an exclusive perk rocks! These locally owned businesses are excited to share their spaces with you!
With a mix of cafes, specialty shops, festivals (film & music), art galleries, Calgary events, museums, and holes in the wall - the YYC Adventure Card ensures that you will find something new to dive out of your comfort zones.
We want to hear from you - help us curate the Summer 2018 perks! Comment below or email us the businesses you’d like to see on the next YYC Adventure Card!
